If a Progressive Challenge was already past its new Patch 1.0.3 target, earn one more unit of that same objective: IllFonic says this should complete it. For a fresh challenge, open the character, Michael-skin, or weapon track in your client, check the active tier, and pursue the named action in a completed match. The table below gives selected new targets from the official patch notes, not a complete challenge catalog.

The September 22 patch lowered many goals and reduced the difficulty of challenges involving knocking Michael down or blinding, disorienting, and stunning him. A lower number does not make every task safe to force. Choose a normal match objective that produces the action you need, and verify credit on the result or challenge screen before repeating it. Progression and Prestige explains which XP track the reward belongs to; story challenges covers the separate single-player chapter tasks.

First, fix a counter above its new goal

IllFonic's instruction is specific: existing progress exceeding a revised Progressive Challenge requirement needs any additional progress toward that objective to complete. If your old counter says 31 and the new goal is 30, repeat the action once rather than replaying the entire requirement. For a repair task, perform a qualifying repair; for a resident task, perform the named resident action. Merely opening the challenge menu is not the stated trigger.

Check that the correct challenge tier is active before entering a match. Progressive tiers are completed in sequence, so a later named challenge is not automatically active because its goal appears in patch notes. Finish the match and inspect the counter. If it still fails, record character or weapon, challenge name, previous and new count, platform, patch, and the action attempted. That is a useful report; a generic claim that all challenges are broken is hard to reproduce.

Selected Civilian targets by character

These are one changed goal per Civilian, chosen to show how the new requirements translate into a practical task. Names remain as shown by the official English patch. Richard and Alexis are Digital Deluxe additions, so check your edition and unlock state before planning around them. For the full set of changed entries, use IllFonic's Patch 1.0.3 notes.

Michael and Hatchet changes

The same patch also changes Progressive goals outside the Civilian roster. 1978 Michael — Lethal Efficiency now asks for 50 standard grab-weapon executions. Hatchet — Flight of the Axe now asks for 75 thrown-weapon kills. The important distinction is the action: a normal elimination does not satisfy a named grab execution or thrown-weapon kill just because the right character or weapon was equipped. Check the active tier and execution result before repeating a match.

Michael's combat balance also changed in 1.0.3. All Bloodthirst levels gained damage resistance, and he receives brief protection and offensive buffs after rising from a downed state. If your Civilian task requires a down, avoid assuming the same immediate follow-up timing as an older patch. The Michael abilities guide covers that interaction; the Hatchet target here is a requirement, not evidence that one Michael loadout is best.

Combine tasks only when their actions genuinely overlap

Pick one primary objective before queueing. Eric's obstacle clearing belongs beside an escape-route plan; Marcus's Tinker requires sabotage, so it may have no opportunity in a match where Michael never destroys communications. Tanya's calm task needs a terrified Resident, whereas Lynda's First Aid needs an injured teammate. Different targets should not be conflated to make a checklist look faster.

Combat tasks demand even more restraint. Patch 1.0.3 reduces high-Capability melee benefit and increases Michael's Bloodthirst resistance. Downing him is still possible, but a patch note does not guarantee your character, weapon, or squad will do it on demand. Take an opening that protects an actual rescue or escape. If the objective is Rachel's defensive-item break free, carry an appropriate item when found and treat surviving the grab as the priority. See How to Escape for the broader team plan.

Tracking and combat checks in Patch 1.1.0

Patch 1.1.0, checked October 8, 2026, fixes several Progressive tracking cases and improves challenge difficulty without publishing replacement counts. Keep the table labelled as 1.0.3 targets; the active client tier determines your current task.

Combat-dependent goals need a fresh timing check. Bloodthirst tier 2/3 damage and attack-speed bonuses are reduced, repeated shoves meet more resistance, and Pocket Knife struggles scale with both Stalk and Bloodthirst. A prior down or grab sequence is not a tested current shortcut. Finish the exact action and retain the result if it does not count.

What this page verifies

The numeric goals and patch rule above come from IllFonic's Patch Notes 1.0.3, reviewed September 23, 2026. Its list describes adjustments, not every Progressive Challenge available in the game. The official progression overview establishes that Progressive Challenges belong to specific Civilians, Michael skins, and weapons and advance in sequence. We have not reproduced every official line or claimed an in-client completion test. Your live challenge screen determines the active tier, while a dated counter result is the evidence needed to confirm how it credited on your platform.
