Halloween: The Game story challenges guide
By Halloween: The Game WikiSources checked October 19, 2026
On this page+
There are 36 optional Story challenges: six in the Prologue and six in each of Chapters 1–5. Use the chapter sections below for the target, required interaction, and common mistake. Give no-alert objectives their own run, and finish the chapter after earning a challenge so you can check its saved result.
Story spoilers follow. Keep a required victim alive until you have the weapon, Stalk state, or environmental prompt needed for that challenge. Stalk Tier 3 on a target and Michael's Bloodthirst level are different requirements; raising one does not automatically satisfy the other.
Use this replay order
Choose a replay by what you are missing:
- Prologue: separate the no-alert escape from the five combat/clear objectives.
- Chapter 1: preserve one target for the cue and another for the thrown cleaver before clearing the bar.
- Chapters 2–3: wait for named contextual targets; keep the Chapter 3 wood axe for three kills.
- Chapter 4: reserve a focused attempt for the Movie Accurate sequence.
- Chapter 5: separate the Loomis avoidance run from noisy weapon and police-car tasks.
Pick up missed recordings during these replays with the Loomis Logs locations guide. Once a desired challenge registers, finish normally; restarting to optimize another objective risks losing the successful attempt.
Prologue — Smith's Grove
Use two attempts: a quiet exit for Challenge 5, then a sweep for the remaining goals.
| # | Goal | Action and place to check |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Make an orderly flee | Grab and frighten an orderly, then let him escape; killing him cannot fulfill the flee condition. |
| 2 | Three bare-handed executions | Grab three orderlies and choose the unarmed execution. Keep pole and throw kills separate from this count. |
| 3 | Telephone-pole execution | Find the power unit near the exit, check its right side for the pole, and carry a grabbed orderly to the prompt. |
| 4 | Fatal throw | Follow the path from the power-unit area toward the railing; carry a victim to the contextual throw prompt. |
| 5 | Escape without alerting orderlies | Wait out patrols, use foliage, and walk near guards. Save the execution tasks for another attempt. |
| 6 | Clear all orderlies | Sweep toward the exit, then backtrack to the starting area before leaving. Reaching the gate alone is insufficient. |
For the no-alert attempt, stop before a patrol's light crosses your path and let it turn away. Near the end, complete the power-box and gate interactions, then continue to the station wagon. The final escape objective still matters after the gate opens. Watch the challenge failure notification rather than judging the run from score alone.
For the clear, revisit places already passed: walkthroughs report additional orderlies near the opening area. If you only need Challenge 6, use kills for reachable targets instead of waiting to see whether a frightened guard has actually left. The official 1.0.2 patch fixed its tracking; guides predating that fix can contain obsolete counting advice.

Chapter 1 — The Road to Haddonfield
Use a preparation-first order: shove a biker and secure a context kill, then handle weapon-specific goals before the final sweep.
| # | Goal | Action and mistake to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Clear the Rabbit in Red | Check back rooms after the main fight, including the bartender and makeup-room occupant. The scripted fleeing biker is excluded. |
| 2 | Unbalance a biker | Use Shove while a biker remains alive; an ordinary weapon hit is a different action. |
| 3 | Broken-cue kill | Pick up a broken pool cue in the bar and use it for a kill before replacing it. |
| 4 | Contextual biker execution | Grab a biker beside an environmental execution point, such as the outside wall. A regular execution is insufficient. |
| 5 | Thrown-cleaver kill | Find a cleaver and kill a target with the throw. Slashing while holding it does not meet the projectile condition. |
| 6 | Three additional residents | Search the neighborhood after the bar; use Copper Lane's homes as first checks. |
Cleaver reports differ: one walkthrough checks the bar kitchen, another the homes reached from the gas station toward Copper Lane. Search those areas before killing every available target. Keep one alive until the required weapon is in hand; that is easier than reaching an empty neighborhood with the right cleaver.

Chapter 2 — Main Street
Chapter 2 has several contextual challenges. Treat each named victim as a checkpoint, not a target to rush past.
| Challenge target | Simple solution |
|---|---|
| Tanya | Reach the music store and use the cash register interaction for her kill. Do not use a normal attack if you want the challenge. |
| Rachel | Build your stalk state, take her to the graveyard encounter, and use the available environmental kill prompt there. |
| Slab | In the cemetery, wait until he stops at the tree to urinate, then use the context execution before the moment ends. |
| Eric | Enter the hardware-store stockroom and use the shelf interaction for the kill. |
| Rachel's friends | Watch where the three friends split up after the cemetery scene, then follow and eliminate each before advancing. |
| No-alert completion | Make this a separate replay. Approach required targets from behind, preserve surprise, and finish the chapter without a failure notification. |
Slow down at each named area. Tanya's prompt is in the music store, Eric's in the stockroom, and Slab's window ends with his animation. For Rachel, wait for a cemetery environmental prompt. Her friends instead need three separate kills: track their departures rather than expecting everyone in one house. If a required execution prompt is absent, reposition while the target is alive; an ordinary kill removes that opportunity for the attempt.
Chapter 3 — Returning Home
Collect the wood axe early, reserve the contextual victims for their props, and leave the exit until after the resident sweep.
| # | Goal | Action and first search |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jennifer at the campfire | Build her Stalk to Tier 3, grab her near the fire, and use its environmental prompt. |
| 2 | Thomas at the weight bench | Stalk him from the scene's ending position, then carry him to the bench for the contextual kill. |
| 3 | Marcus at the motorcycle | Wait for him to leave the house and reach the bike before taking the environmental execution. |
| 4 | Three wood-axe kills | First check the Myers house room associated with Judith. Keep the axe for three separate target kills. |
| 5 | Gloria and Keith | Check Marcus's house for Gloria and the house adjoining Thomas's garage for Keith. |
| 6 | Every resident in the neighborhood | Sweep remaining houses and yards before the exit objective; special targets alone are insufficient. |
If the axe is missing from the earlier reported room, search nearby before clearing every target. Do not replace a named environmental kill with an axe kill just to hurry the weapon counter: use other residents for that objective. Once only the full clear remains, move house by house rather than repeating the already completed contextual encounters.
The location details come from Into Indie Games' Chapter 3 section and the ShowGamer walkthrough, reviewed October 19; reported pickups remain first checks.
Chapter 4 — The Babysitters
Chapter 4 has compact individual challenges and one sequence challenge that should be its own replay.
| Goal | Do this |
|---|---|
| Annie | Wait for her car routine and use the strangulation context kill at the vehicle. |
| Bob | Lead or catch Bob in the kitchen and use the wall interaction. |
| Lynda | Put on the sheet, find her on the telephone, and take the telephone context kill. |
| Bloodthirsty execution | Reach Bloodthirst Level 3, grab an ordinary resident, and perform the Bloodthirsty execution. |
| Fully stalk Bob and Lynda | Complete both targets' Stalk to Tier 3 while they are in the living room, before killing either. |
For Movie Accurate, preserve this order:
- Strangle Annie in the car after her routine brings her back to it.
- Fully stalk Bob and Lynda in the living room before killing either.
- Pin Bob to the kitchen wall, then collect his glasses and put on the sheet upstairs.
- Execute Lynda with the telephone while wearing the sheet.
- Stage the bodies, let Laurie discover them, and fully stalk her before continuing the story.
The glasses step connects Bob's death to the sheet interaction. If the sheet option is missing, check that pickup before abandoning the run. If you killed either target before completing their living-room Stalk, use another focused attempt for the sequence.
Chapter 5 — Into the Shadows
For the flashlight challenge, disable two active police flashlights with one Blackout. For the Wallace House challenge, fully stalk an officer inside the house; a kill or Bloodthirst level is not the stated objective.
| # | Goal | Route and completion check |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Two lights, one Blackout | Check the north-side patrol near the sewer approach. Wait for two illuminated flashlights together, then cast once within range. |
| 2 | Pitchfork execution on an officer | First check right of the starting bushes, beside a house wall near a parked car. Pick it up and use its execution, not a throw. |
| 3 | Three resident kills | Sweep houses to the right of the restroom before committing to the exit. Count ordinary residents separately from officers. |
| 4 | Full Stalk in Wallace House | Find an officer inside, check upstairs, and complete that target's Stalk to Tier 3 before attacking. |
| 5 | Avoid Loomis through the escape | Keep outside his sight line and minimap danger area. Use a dedicated quiet attempt and finish the chapter. |
| 6 | Disable a police car | Melee a police vehicle until it cuts out and smokes, then escape; the reported notification can arrive at the exit. |
For Blackout, two separate casts do not fulfill “at once.” Patch 1.0.2 removed the earlier requirement to drain the flashlights completely. Wait for the pair and disable both together instead of chasing empty batteries. If an officer is missing from Wallace House, a reported alternative is drawing a nearby patrol inside; leave that noisy setup for a run where Loomis avoidance is not your goal.
For Challenge 5, finish other missing noisy tasks on a separate pass. A community report suggests using the sewer exit when a jump-away attempt fails to register; treat that as an alternative route to try, rather than a proven universal requirement. Keep bodies away from Loomis's route where possible. If his detection goal fails, an already earned pitchfork or car objective is still a reason to finish the chapter.
The pitchfork spot and north-side patrol are first search checks from earlier walkthroughs. If absent, search adjacent houses or another paired patrol while keeping the required action unchanged.

A challenge happened but did not save
Distinguish three cases before repeating an entire chapter:
| What you saw | Next action |
|---|---|
| A challenge failure notice | The condition failed this attempt. Finish other compatible goals, or restart if this was your only target. |
| The action happened but no completion notice | Finish normally and inspect the saved chapter list; Chapter 5's car goal may notify at the exit. |
| A crash or restart before the results save | Install 1.1.1 and retry one short objective. Use crash checks if it repeats. |
The 1.1.0 notes added failure notifications. 1.1.1 adds crash fixes without naming a new Story tracking correction. Difficulty-change and checkpoint-reload tips vary between old reports; the chapter's saved list is the completion check, not a community workaround by itself.
Sources and next goals
IllFonic's story and progression posts establish the chapter and cosmetic framework. Chapter 2–4 routes retain the earlier Destructoid Chapter 2 and ShowGamer evidence, with the missing Chapter 2 stealth goal and Chapter 4 glasses step added during the October 19 source review. Our replay grouping and failure checks are editorial guidance, not a claimed client playtest. Continue with achievements and trophies for goals beyond one chapter.
