On Patch 1.1.0, find a live objective with Killer Sense, build Stalk from cover, and use darkness to reposition. Bloodthirst takes more progress to level, but stalking, executions, grabs, and attacks give more; low-level Shape Jump is reduced and Shape Dash is faster. Record the current tier before comparing a route with an old clip.

Michael does not need to patrol every street equally. Civilians reveal themselves through resident conversations, containers, phones, and escape sequences. Turn those commitments into a short route, then leave before the next objective appears. This guide explains confirmed tools and how to test them. It does not invent cooldowns, damage values, or a strongest loadout where official sources do not publish them.

Start with the target, not the chase

Michael begins with Special Targets that offer greater rewards when eliminated before their timer expires. Use Killer Sense first to orient yourself around potential prey and nearby activity, not as an excuse to wander until a Civilian is standing in front of you. The official description says focusing on targets builds levels of Stalk, which help identify and track victims and open more execution options. A patient opening has value when it gives you a route to a named target, resident cluster, or objective the Civilians cannot ignore.

Use darkness to make Shape Jump useful

Shape Jump is Michael's principal repositioning tool. The official overview says it lets him move through the environment unseen, raises movement potential, and opens options including Shape Dash. Its key restriction is equally important: Michael can only enter and exit Shape Jump in darkness or outside a resident's line of sight. If you repeatedly try it under direct observation, the tool has failed before the chase begins.

Build a small darkness routine. Break a light source, cut power, or use a temporary Blackout when the move creates a route to a confirmed target, then enter Shape Jump from cover rather than in the middle of a visible street. Use Shape Dash to close the final distance or cross an exposed gap, not simply because it is available. Test one landmark, note line of sight and light state, then observe whether the jump created an approach that walking would not.

Patch 1.1.0 reduces Shape Jump visibility range at Bloodthirst level 1 and below, reduces its movement speed at level 2 and below, and increases Shape Dash speed. These are different thresholds: do not combine them into one rule or invent a new range or cooldown. Recheck a familiar dark approach at your current tier before committing to a pursuit.

Build Stalk before you spend the reveal

Use Stalk while a target moves toward a resident, phone, or escape, so tracking provides both a person and an objective to pressure. If detected early, decide whether to keep pursuing or rotate; lingering in a poor sight line gives Civilians time.

The launch patch reduced stalked Civilians' stamina regeneration and lengthened its delay by Stalk tier. Patch 1.1.0 improves line-of-sight behavior in various map locations and fixes Stalk Marker duration failing to scale with tiers. Recheck the landmark, sight line, and marker before relying on a former blocked angle.

Two new late-game conditions matter:

  • During the final 60 seconds, Residents, Special Targets, and Civilians in Hiding Spots become Stalked.
  • When Michael receives Finish Off Haddonfield, Residents and Special Targets become Stalked. The notes do not include Civilians in this second trigger.
  • Stalked targets become visible in Hiding Spots when either condition is met.

A hiding spot is therefore not a guaranteed way to wait out the last minute. Watch the timer and objective, distinguish target types, and pressure the remaining hiding locations when the actual condition appears.

Understand Bloodthirst as a match-long advantage

IllFonic describes Bloodthirst as a tier system affecting resistance, grab strength, melee damage, cooldowns, and movement. Check the current client tooltip; official notes give change directions without exact new curves or percentages.

In 1.1.0, each level needs more Bloodthirst. Stalking and executions give more progress, as do successful grabs and attacks. Prioritize a useful stalk or execution near an active objective rather than assuming an old sequence of basic kills reaches the same tier.

Combat gains also change: tiers 2 and 3 give smaller damage and attack-speed increases, while Michael deals more damage against targets at Stalk tiers 2 and 3. Keep target Stalk and Michael Bloodthirst separate when comparing outcomes. The patch reduces melee slow strength/duration and makes the victim's brief movement boost stronger; chaining hits is not the same timing as before.

Earlier 1.0.2/1.0.3 resistance changes and the brief post-down protection remain historical context. The new patch also increases resistance to repeated shoves from the same Civilian in a short period. As Michael, regain position at the objective; as a Civilian, create space rather than assuming a repeat shove works immediately.

Patch 1.0.4 fixed unintended Level 3 grab difficulty. In 1.1.0, Pocket Knife difficulty scales with Stalk and Bloodthirst, and the knife counter's stun is shorter. Neither note gives a universal escape probability or exact safe duration.

Record both tiers, ability, objective, platform, and result during a test. Rotate toward a live escape or phone instead of chasing a distant target while the decisive interaction finishes. Michael cannot be permanently killed; coordinated resistance can detain him and return him to Smith's Grove under the official multiplayer rules.

Choose abilities for a job, then test one change

Official progression material says Michael starts with Killer Sense and Shape Jump, can unlock starting weapons, and selects three additional abilities from choices including Reality Tear, Blackout, and Detection Pulse. Start with the job you want an ability to do: find a hiding resident, remove a light advantage, create a reposition, or defend an active escape. Then read the current tooltip, equip the ability, and test it against that one job for several completed matches.

Avoid changing your weapon, all three abilities, and your route in the same session. If the plan works, you will not know why; if it fails, you will not know what to fix. Change one piece, keep a short note about the map and target, and repeat when the same kind of objective appears. This is how a mechanics guide becomes a tested-build guide without treating a temporary patch result as universal.

Historically, Patch 1.0.3 changed Shape Mine placement so it no longer completely stops Michael's movement, and that patch fixed Shape Jump and Killer Sense remaining on cooldown for the rest of a match. Test the exact sequence again if it failed before; a similar new failure deserves a fresh report. Patch 1.0.2's Lethal Pitch change remains historical context. Use Perks and Perk Decks for the Civilian side and How to Escape for the objectives you want to disrupt.

Source scope and next steps

We reviewed Patch 1.1.0 on October 8, 2026. The multiplayer and progression overviews establish the ability framework; 1.0.3 remains historical context. No in-client retest is claimed. Use news for the patch record and gameplay for objectives; report a differing tooltip with platform, version, clip, and reproduction steps.
