Halloween: The Game platforms and PC requirements

Halloween: The Game is available on Windows PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. PC requires Windows 11 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, and 45 GB on SSD/NVMe. For crashes, install 1.1.1 first: it addresses DLSS/FSR frame generation, grabs, Xbox Quick Resume, and a Series X Performance Mode shader crash.

PC requirements: compare your system

The Epic Games Store requirements were rechecked October 8, 2026. These are the publisher's specifications and targets, not this wiki's benchmark results.

Compare the actual GPU, installed RAM, Windows version, and installation drive. The CPU row names platforms rather than a single processor, so a socket match alone does not establish performance. If you only have 16 GB RAM, close software you are not using before measuring the game.

First steps for low FPS or uneven performance

Patch 1.1.0 adds DLSS-G, startup shader precompilation, and improvements to DLSS/FSR/XeSS and CPU/GPU performance. Use the following troubleshooting order to avoid changing several things without learning which one helped.

  1. Finish the game update. Restart the game after installation, especially when returning from a suspended session.
  2. Let shader precompilation complete. Compare gameplay after that startup process, rather than treating its loading time as match FPS.
  3. Create a baseline. Note your resolution, graphics preset, upscaling option, and performance in one short repeatable section.
  4. Change one available option. For example, lower resolution or try a supported upscaler, then compare the same section.
  5. Keep the useful result. Favor a setting that improves play while keeping residents, prompts, and nearby movement readable.

The comparison method is our diagnostic recommendation. It helps separate a setting change from a different map or scene; it does not promise a particular FPS increase.

DLSS-G frame generation and DLSS/FSR/XeSS upscaling are distinct options. Use the features the game exposes for your hardware, and assess control response as well as the FPS display. Do not assume that every GPU listed in the requirements supports every new option.

What to do when the game crashes

Start with the October 16 official 1.1.1 fixes. Match your symptom before changing unrelated settings:

Failure pointOfficial patch scopeNext step
DLSS/FSR frame generation on PC1.1.1 names frame-generation crash fixesUpdate; if it recurs, compare with frame generation off while keeping resolution and upscaling unchanged
Xbox Quick Resume1.1.1 again names Series X|S resume crashesQuit fully after updating and launch a fresh session
Xbox Series X Performance Mode1.1.1 fixes a shader crash in this modeRetry the same mode; record it separately from Series S's single graphics profile
Grabbing or a gameplay interaction1.1.1 fixes a grab crash and certain interaction crashesRecord role, target, and the preceding interaction if it recurs
Certain AMD hardware, Story Mode, or execution cinematicsEarlier named 1.1.0 casesRecord GPU, chapter, or execution; these earlier fixes are distinct from the new cases

Frame-generation isolation: note your current settings, disable only frame generation if your menu offers it, then retry the same section. If stable, keep that temporary configuration for play and include the on/off result in a report. This is a diagnostic comparison, not an official permanent workaround or a reason to disable every upscaler.

For PC crashes, verifying game files is a supported launcher step that can repair damaged installation files:

  • Steam: Library → right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Steam's instructions
  • Epic: Library → game menu (three dots) → Manage → Verify. Epic's instructions

After verification finishes, retry the same action. If it still fails, use known issues and support details with the platform, build, hardware, and failure point. File verification addresses installation integrity; it does not change your hardware's compatibility.

Xbox graphics modes and platform choices

The official launch announcement names PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic. PC players can choose between those two storefronts; compare the account and library you intend to use.

Patch 1.0.4 adjusted Series X Performance Mode. On Series S, it removed the Quality/Performance toggle in favor of one profile capped at 30 FPS. Patch 1.1.0 adds volumetric fog and stability improvements on Series S, without announcing a new cap.

For cross-play and game modes, use gameplay. For edition contents, use release and purchase information.

Sources and practical limits

1.1.1's crash scope was checked October 19, 2026. The requirements and launcher steps retain their October 8 review; a new crash patch does not remeasure hardware requirements. The diagnostic sequence combines official support instructions with our suggested comparison method. No hardware benchmark or universal best-settings preset is claimed.

Epic lists English audio and text including Spanish (Spain). Check your chosen platform's listing for its language options before purchase.
